The existing fibro house on this beautiful block was typical of your 50's beach shack complete with nostalgia and asbestos.
With a desire to bottle that 'vibe' and not contribute unnecessarily to landfill it was decided to keep the bare bones of the existing house and wrap it in new timber clad forms to bring it into the 21st century.
The original plan provided a great generator for a courtyard house. From every room in the proposed house you have a vista to a landscaped courtyard or garden. Views are framed through the house and ventilation is optimised.
A new north facing living pavilion was added at the rear and a master bedroom suite and garage provide a new facade. The old home becomes the link between the two new forms.
The end result will be a light filled family home ready for new memories.
“Jane has delivered an outstanding design on a redevelopment of an old coastal shack. Incorporating the new with the old, once complete this project will become a stunning family home thanks to Jane capturing our brief perfectly.
We look forward to working on future projects with a brilliant architect .”
