Our Story

(And meet Jane)

Architect Jane Macrae started Nine Muses Design to create flexibility for her young family to enjoy all the benefits of Ocean Grove life.

She wanted to focus on creating homes that are well loved and well lived in, by families like her very own.

Why the name?

The Nine Muses were greek goddesses who ruled over the arts and sciences and offered inspiration in these fields.

With a background in classical music, an enjoyment of science and maths and a passion for all aspects of design, the name Nine Muses aptly capture’s Jane’s varied interests and inspiration.

Trained as an Architect in her hometown at The University Of Melbourne,

Jane has nearly 20 years of architectural experience working locally and abroad on a range of projects from  small renovations to the masterplanning and design of large scale high end resorts.

However residential architecture is her joy.

She loves the many 'light-bulb' moments along the design journey but mostly when clients fall in love with a concept and the potential for their new home.

Jane is a registered architect with the ARBV, a member of ArchiTeam and Nine Muses is an A+ member of the RAIA.

"Jane has delivered an outstanding design on a redevelopment of an old coastal shack. Incorporating the new with the old, once complete this project will become a stunning family home thanks to Jane capturing our brief perfectly.
We look forward to working on future projects with a brilliant architect."
